    Glue Stick Bullet

Has anyone made ammunition with a glue stick as the projectile?
Looks like an interesting thing to do when calguns is down with nothing else to do.

The method in the video was to:

    enlarge the flash hole
    deepen the primer pocket
lube the glue stick and insert it into the case. Then cut it off flush with the case
    use MLP primers for .45

Looks like a homemade version of the x-ring rubber bullets.

lmao. That's lame. What about that crap building up in your barrel?

/folks used to just use a thick sheet of wax and cut the brass into it like a cookie-cutter.

I've done it. It works and is fairly accurate (about an inch and a half at 10yds with my 1911). It'll go through one, possibly two sides of a cardboard box. I opened up the flashhole on my brass, but that's it. Used WLP primers (not magnum).

The stuff in the barrel cleans out, primers cost about the same as lead pellets and you get to use the same grip, sight picture and trigger pull.

Most of the sticks I've checked mic at around .445.

            Well I'll be!!

I've sent some pretty bizarre projectiles out of gun barrels, but that Glue
Stick recipe is one I haven't thought of.

Looks like it could be messy.

I would think that the Glue Stick has a higher melting point than wax. I wonder what the smaller diameter glue sticks measure out to?

glue stick spider webs from the end of the barrel would be funny. Interesting though.

yeah but wax doesn't turn into a gooey adhesive.

Hot glue doesn't stick very well to the inside of the barrel. It comes out with a pass or two of a brush.

Wow... glad I don't live in a freezing cold climate and don't have to resort to such desperate measures to get some time in with my guns

                          & in related news:
If you use 3/4in pipe for your spud cannon barrel you can use frozen tater tots as projectiles & those things will break a rib...

i used a paper towel wad in mine and shot paintballs; though not at people, at inanimate objects.

Glue sticks are not really made of an 'adhesive.' They are made of (mostly) polyethylene plastic, which turns really sticky when heated -- hence the tag "glue stick."

They are just another commercial application for polyethylene which has really long 'plasticizer' carbon molecules; polyethylene becomes glue-like only when it gets hot enough. It shouldn't be very hard to remove from a gun barrel nor do it any harm -- certainly no harder or worse than wax.
