Question on using bushing dies 338 lapua

I have a rcbs bushing neck sizer. It's doesn't look like it's sizing all the way down the neck and is leaving a bulge.what am I doing wrong?

OMG...don't you know you'll never receive quality sizing from dies that aren't custom made by some dude in a garage with the ultimate rep from the "high end dies only" crowd? You should be paying many hundreds of dollars for the die to do what you are trying to do. Expecting an RCBS die to do what it's designed to do is simply taking the cheap way out. You obviously haven't spent enough.

Clearly I was being sarcastic and ranting about a very reputable brand (if you saw my posts in the .416 Barrett thread you'd understand my rant/position). Apparently, folks who want to work with large caliber brass have to go the custom die route to actually get what they need versus purchasing a mass produced die from a long standing manufacturer in the reloading community.

Sorry, just couldn't resit. It's been a long day. I'm sure someone much more qualified will let you know what's going on.

I thought it was a custom die. I'll read the 416 thread. I stopped after the first case. That lapua brand brass ain't cheap.

I feel your pain ($). I went through plenty of .416 B brass when trying to adjust my Big Boy WFT. A group of sad, expensive brass casings sitting on the bench trimmed too short. A quick lesson learned.

I'm not sure that it's such a big deal. My 6mm BR Redding bushing dies leave the same false shoulder. My chamber neck id is the slightly wider "no turn neck" for Lapua brass. No feeding issue, and the bullet has plenty of neck tension. I had read on Accurate Shooter that is allows the case to "center" in the chamber. Eventually it may require a bump with the body die.

The factory Redding bushing dies are great for the 338LM. There's no need for custom. It looks like you need to size lower down on the neck. I am not familiar with RCBS bushings, is that neck only or neck and body. If it's neck and body and are resizing head space simultaneously, it looks like you may end up with donuts. Does the case (shown) chamber?

Back the bushing all the way up so it sizes as little of the case as possible.
Now screw the die down until it makes contact with the case.
Back that off 1/16th to 1/8th of a turn.
Now adjust the bushing down until it sizes the cases neck.
Bushing only size about 0.330 of a neck unless your dies allow you to use two bushings.
The top of the neck is typical until you have two firings on your brass.

It's an rcbs die with a redding bushing.
