    How did I do? (.223)

    Hello,
I've loaded up atleast 2k rounds so far. Loaded up some new recipes and tested them at 50 yards. Let me know what you think? Good or bad. Had one round that the shoulder didn't get bumped back enough. Loaded up 62gr TBBC, 60gr VMax, 57gr pull down, 55gr Armscor.

What are the details on the test bed?

I do not see anything that screams for further investigation. I would try 24.5 grains of TAC with a good 55 grain bullet and a Winchester srp to see what the rifle will do.

None of that looks good for 50 yards unless your shooting offhand with iron sights.

This is my 100yd group using a 55gr Hornady FMMJBT over 26.4gr of CFE223, seated 2.250, shot out of a 18" Nordic barrel using a JP LMOS BCG, on a bench using a front rest. The one shot on each side was to verify clicks on the scope meant something.

ETA: when you are asking for information on loads it is helpful to provide:

        Powder
        charge weight
        primer
        bullet wt, design/type and manufacturer
        seating depth

additional info that is good to provide is
case if your using a specific brand
jump to the lands if you have checked
        speed
weather when you shot the groups.

Most of these are plinking rounds and are pull downs. Stocked on H335 so trying to go through that.

I agree it isn't the best grouping ever. The 57gr and 62gr shot out to 200 yards fine. So all rounds were loaded with H335, OAL is 2.240ish. The 62 grain got seated to 2.200. Any suggestions how to improve?

I am really not the guru to give advice but I would do a ladder test for accuracy and speed. Pick a bullet and powder and work up that load before switching to something else. Use a chrono and track your loads speed and deviations.

So you think these rounds are good enough? I'm just trying to figure it out because you say not to bad and the other poster says not to good haha. Obviously could be a different opinion on accuracy.

18" Mega Arms barrel, BCM BCG, Anderson upper. Any other details you'd like?

Yeah I've found the Lee Autodisk is pretty inconsistent when dropping charges, will probably need to upgrade. Since you said the groups aren't the good (not mad) how much more could I cut down the group with further testing do you think?

I would just buy a Lee Auto-drum, break it in, and just enjoy reliable charges.

I do not know how accurate your rifle can be. I know all my .223 barrels are sub-moa capable so thats what I strive for when working up a load. Yours may only be MOA capable, so a 1" group is fine, its just very hard to tell.

I haven't heard of the Lee drum but I just checked it out and looks much more consistent. My 18" mega arms (AR15) barrel spouts a "sub MOA" shooting capability. So basically not bad but can get a lot better? Also this a self loading gun and not a bolt action idk if that would make a difference.

The posted group was shot out of an AR and it is actually sub MOA, so you should be able to get there.

Assuming of course you have an optic that does not change zero, you have a proper handguard that does not place any stress on the barrel, etc.

I will be perfectly clear. I would not be happy with those groups at a hundred yards let alone 50 yards. To see what your rifle will do try 24 1/2 grains of TAC pushing a good quality 55 grain bullet like the nosler ballistic tips and see what the rifle will do. Once you have the base line of whether it is you or the rifle you can figure out where the week link is in your loading.

Also what sighting method are you using? A scope will give you a better idea of mechanical accuracy than a red dot or iron sights.

Well alright then, I appreciate the insight. I figured there was room for improvement. I wasn't going for the most accurate load as well just something I could shoot at the moment. I have a bunch of pull downs I wanted to get through. I also have some varget and blc for varying results but I think the biggest weak link is the double disk auto loader. I will report back with better results next time.
Optic is a eotech 512 with 3x magnifier on it.
