308 M1 Garand loads

I want to start a discussion on M1 Garand Loads specifically for 308. I'll add to this as info comes in.

Loads from reliable sources:
175gr Sierra Match King 42.5gr of IMR 4064 (this is getting close to max load)
135gr Sierra Match King 43.7gr of IMR 4895 (good light JCG or short range loads)
125gr Sierra Match King 41.5gr of IMR 4895 (good light JCG or short range loads)

Loads apparently From McCoy:
168gr Sierra Match King 41.5gr of IMR 4895, LC brass
150gr Sierra Match King 43.0gr of IMR 4895, LC brass

The Complete M1 Garand by Jim Thompson:
Note that this data is not "old" but there is a chance that the powders have changed a bit since it's publication.
150gr bullets 42gr of IMR 4895 or 44gr of IMR 4064 (or Varget)
168gr bullets 40.5gr of IMR 4895 or 41.4gr ofIMR 4064 (or Varget)

Furthermore he recommends ideal velocity windows for certain bullets in the Garand:
147-152gr Ball :: 2690fps to 2810fps
168-175gr Boat Tail :: 2590fps to 2660fps
180-190gr Boat Tail :: 2400fps to 2540fps

Some specifics
Brass
Unlike .223/5.56, 308/7.62 are not as interchangeable. Military 7.62 brass is very different from commercial 308 brass, and often has far greater wall thickness producing lower case capacity. The constant "theme" I hear is reduce loads 1gr if going from 308 to 7.62 Mil brass.

Primers
Everything I read suggests that you use the CCI #34 or the Winchester LRP. I have some of the (no longer imported) Wolf magnum LRPs so I will try them. Also the Rem 9.5 is supposed to be good but not as hard a cup as the CCI #34 or Winchester.

COAL
I haven't measured my particular Garand's chamber but I'd love some ballpark measurements of OAL to ogive on a classic bullet from other 308 garands. I suspect they have similar chambers but some might be different.

IMR vs H
I have it on pretty good authority that they are the same burn rate. I do not believe that they are "RL15/Norma 203B same" so prudence would suggest to drop by a grain when working up a load with a different "brand" of powder.

Milo...I have a great article about 1k shooting with a gas gun.The Author worked up to 43.7gr of IMR4064 with a SMK168 at 2700fps for 600-1000yd.
My favorite is Varget or IMR4895 at 42GR-43GR with a 175MK.To go 1k with the 175 you will need at least 2600fps at the muzzle.
Loads I use are fired from LC match brass using WLR primers.

In my 308 Garand, 45.5gr of CFE223 in LC brass with 155gr Sierra Match King Palma and CCI 200 LR primers resulted in 2729 fps average.
