I am looking at purchasing a case trimmer and several people that I know have suggested the Lyman universal w/ 9 pc. pilot set. I wanted to get some input on this trimmer and see if any CG'ers have them and how they are performing. I will be trimming .223 brass to start. Seems like a good deal for the price. Thanks for the input in advance!

You should seriously consider saving a few more pennies and getting a Giraud Power Trimmer. Worth every single penny and makes trimming several thousand rounds at a time very easy.Originally posted by tankermanI think most folks bubba their AR's because they watch too many action movies, play too many video games and don't understand how to socialize properly, so they fantasize about being 'action hero's'. Kind of like little girls playing dress-up.Originally posted by Douglas711Is everybody stocking up on guys now? Just curious some gun prices seem to be getting high.Comment

I have the lyman accutrimmer and would suggest getting one with a power drill adapter if you cant get the better giraud trimmer, It does suck when you are trimming 100's of cases (manual labor sucks) even with gloves your hands take a beating. You'll never catch up to chief with his 12k 223's with a lyman ha! ha!Comment

I have a Lyman case trimmer. Make sure to get the power adapter so that you can attach a drill to it. It makes a world of difference.Comment

I have a Giraud, a Lyman, K&M (50BMG) and a CH4D. I use all of them for different tasks. I mainly use the Giraud for trimming 50 BMG, .223 and .308 in large batches. Anytime I'm trimming less than 200 pieces, trimming straight walled brass or experimenting with "one-ofs", the Lyman comes out. I don't think Chief realizes that the Giraud bushings are expensive and caliber specific. So, if I'm only going to trim 20 cases or .300 WSM for a freind, I can use my Lyman with a .30 cal bushing (the same one that I use for .308, 30-06, 30-30, etc.) or spend $30 plus shipping on a Giraud bushing and wait for a week until it gets to me. I guess what I'm trying to say is that, although the Giraud is a great trimmer, the Lyman is far less expensive and far more versatile.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor
