    Dillon Powder Check

Is anyone using one on their 650? It is seems like a good thing, one less thing to watch. I am new to reloading and have been doing some reading and searching and could not find if it is a recommendation.

I use one of the powder measure alarms on my 550. It's never a bad Idea to increase safety and it goes well with the low primer alarm.

I use it on my 650 and I definitely recommend using one. I have it on 3 of my pistol caliber shell plates.

Same here, I highly recommend it too. I use it on my 650 and it gives me better piece of mine knowing that I have that little extra help incase I mess up.

Yes. I like the peace of mind knowing that I can load a lot of round quickly and end up with safe rounds. Any time something is easily automated yet too complicated for a person to do quickly alone I highly advocate for a mechanical fail safe.

Have three of them plus extra plungers pre-set for different tool head set ups. I would not load with out them on my 650. It is just extra insurance for a under/over charged case!

On a 650 I don't see the point. It should be nearly impossible to double-charge on a 650 because the shell plate automatically rotates every time.

Also if you're loading rifle you CAN'T double charge - you'll overflow the case and make a very obvious mess

I guess it's possible to undercharge but the Dillon powder check only checks for GROSS over/under charging, it's not going to tell you if the drop is a little bit off. I just watch the powder bar and make sure it's moving back and forth and that I have plenty of powder in the hopper.

Now if I had a 550 where I had to remember to advance the shell plate each time I would have one - it would be too easy to get distracted and pull the handle twice w/o advancing the shell plate.

If your power bridges in your measure than you can get a major under charge in a round. If you are loading pistol rounds than bridged powder can break loose and you have first under charge/Squibb than a over charge Kaboom!
