I'm to the point now where I only shoot ammo I reload. I save the 22lr for my kids. For me it's another hobby that I enjoy and even if it wasn't cheaper than factory ammo I would probably still load my own.

I was like you I started with pistol ammo and got into loading 223, now I'm getting ready to start loading 308.

Im set to load .223, dies, primers, brass, powder, trimmer.

I just havent done it yet, but im ready to bang out 3k if i need to.

Save that factory brass, stock up on components.

Pretty soon it will make sense no matter how much you paid for components.

My once fired have to be resized for the first reload. Depending on the trim length and other factors, I can get away without trimming for a few reloads.

For up and close carbine matches, I plan to load just like pistol. No neck cleaning, no primer hole cleaning. Just an inspection, tumble and load (resize and everything else). For match ammo, the case prep does get pretty tedious over hundreds of rounds.
