Obviously [to me anyway] it is of German manufacture. "Pistolenpatronen" translates to "pistol caliber".


We use the term "sub machinegun" for pistol caliber automatic weapons. But the Germans used "Machine Pistol" to describe theirs. So it is a possible likelyhood that since you claim it to be HOT. It was loaded for their machine pistols.

Suggest you check with the guys on "Mauser Central". There are some very knowledgable guys there in relation to German ammunition. And a few are died in the wool cartridge collectors with large headstamp data reference libraries.
