Dillon primer problem

You are using the Plastic push rod in the primer tube and is your primer tube on the press clean? You can pull the tube off, remove plastic tip, squirt brake cleaner in it, let dry and reassemble.

I'll second the recommendation to get the spare parts kit...It's like $22 or something. The next time you order anything from Dillon, just get that too to combine on shipping costs.

If your primer pickup (the spring loaded thingy) is not adjusted to the proper height, it can hit the end of the plastic on the magazine tube and damage it. I did that before I discovered the problem.

third the parts kit, you cn get the maint bundle too, comes with press lube for the master cylinder, pipe cleaners, compressed air, blue box and a complete parts kit..... $40 total....

since this was revived from the dead, I place an empty .45acp case on the top of the plastic primer follower for extra weight to ensure feeding.

I open the lips a little before inserting into the tube. Never had an issue since.

The magazine tube has a brass end. Did I read this wrong or what? If you screwed the primer mag cap on and crushed the plastic tip. Then you were using the pickup tube as the mag tube. Or does the 550 use a plastic tip mag tube. I have a 650.

I broke the magazine tip. The tube is fine, but I think I didnt have it in place and gorillaed the screw top part down and crushed the little plastic tabs. Then I razored them of to see if that would work(it wont). Then I went to the back up tip, did the same thing. Dillon is sending me some more, but now I can only load semmi progressive. Im sad

550 primer magazine tube uses a plastic tip as do newer 650's.
The older 650's use the brass tips.
1050's use brass tips.
