I've reloaded pistol rounds for several years, and would like to start reloading rifle rounds. I recently purchased a set of LEE 300 AAC Blackout dies, and ran into a problem. When reloading pistol rounds, I can expand (flare) the case mouth to accept the pistol projectile. However, when I run my 300 Blackout case through my LEE 300 full length sizing die, it seems to return the case to original specs, but the case mouth is too tight, i.e., my (Xtreme 150g 308 plated) projectiles won't sit in/on the case mouth. When I hold the projectile in place and run it through my seating die, the case buckles and the projectile does not seat straight. Can someone help me with this. Thanks

You need an expander die.
I used BT jacketed bullets and just jammed them in but with those plated bullets you definitely need to open the mouth a bit. -
I know plated and lead bullets are usually slightly larger than fmj which may cause an issue or maybe your sizing die is turned down slightly to much. Try touching the sizing die to the shell holder and see if that helps and then turn the die 1/4 turn more and see if you notice the problem.CALGUNS DICTIONARY "FLIER": when a shooter wants to turn a 1 inch group to a half inch group because he flinched.Comment

Are you trimming and chamfering your brass?
I had similar issues with my Lee 300 dies until I got them properly adjusted and trimmed/chamfered my brass. Also super short bullets like the Hornady 100grVMAX suck to load as the COL is very short.Fear is the spare change that will keep you broke

Also I would not use plated bullets at higher velocities. My favorite 300BLK load is the Speer 125 TNT Hollowpoint.Fear is the spare change that will keep you broke

I purchased that for loading powder coated lead projectiles.Comment

order yourself a powder through expander die for 30 carbine and drill out the opening. Either this or buy the universal expander die.

Is the brass reformed 223/556 or head stamped 300blkout. Check the 300 blackout forum to verify the brass thickness. It helped me alotComment
