    300 H&H Magnum Load Data

Looking for some reloading data. For 300 hh Magnum with 180 grain Sierra spitzer using H4350 powder. I comparing the info with both my Hornady and Lee manual. Hornady starting load is 53.3 grains with max 59.2 while Lee is 66 grains and max of 69 . WTH.

hodgedon says 69 for 165's, and 66 for 200's. max loads. 68 seems reasonable for 180's. maybe 69.

If you have a strong modern gun I'd be inclined to start at 60-62 and go up.

Heck, at 1 grain spreads it's less than 10 rounds to find a near max from 60 to ouch.

IMR only has max load of 69 gr. Myself, I'd start around 65 and shoot the first one with a string to trigger and weapon tied off to a sand bagged bench. I seriously do this for both new guns and new starting loads with no one else within range. Dorky but effective.
