    Winchester Rim Fire .22 WRF

    Hello Calguns,

I recently inherited a 1915 Winchester 1890 chambered for .22 Winchester Rim Fire. I never new this was a thing until the 1890 showed up with my name on it. It's my understanding (after a little Google help) that this ammo is not regularly produced but some manufacturers produce runs from time to time.

So, can anyone suggest a manufacturer to me and when a possible run of the ammo may be available? I have seen the ammo for sale on gunbroker, is that my best option? I would love to shoot the 1890. I imagine someone here is much more experienced than I am with this round so any help or suggestions would be welcomed. I am in the Costa Mesa area if that matters. Thanks.

I inherited one as well. It was my Grandfathers rifle as a teenager. The bore on mine is so bad, I never bothered to find ammunition for it. It just sits forlornly in the corner of my safe...

I hope yours is in better shape and you find that ammo.

PS-I did a little checking, looks like CCI and Winchester both still make it occasionally. Places like Able Ammo and Target Sports have "notify" buttons, so maybe you can sign up with a few of those and when a run gets done, you can place an order.

I looked on Gunbroker and there were a few guys selling originals in boxes, but the prices will crazy, likely more for collecting purposes than shooting.

It's not impossible to find, you just have to look a little harder.
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.
