    .308 dies

Ok I'm about to order a set of dies for .308 I was looking at both the Lee deluxe die set and the Redding Deluxe die set. Both sets have a FL and a Neck size die. I like the finish of Redding dies better but I am also a big fan of Lee's collet dies. Any comments on either is appreciated. Any other recommendations also appreciated.

Best Internal Finish in the Industry
All Lee dies are machine honed to the smoothest possible finish. Don't confuse this with the surface polish used by most manufacturers. A polish simply makes a shiny surface. It's like trying to sand wood without backing under the sandpaper. The surface in Lee dies is progressively honed to a fine finish with no waves or ripples.

Lee's!!!! I have used several different brands so far and Lee dies always come out on top. They are cheap and they work great. I also have some Dillon dies and they work great but they were pretty pricey.

I never buy Lee dies anymore. I once purchased a 22-250 Lee die set with a bullet seater that was not concentric and would push the projectile in at an angle. I also had a 45 die set that would flare the case non uniformly. I removed the bit that flares from the die and the diameter was not consistent. Sent it back to Lee both times and they did replace it on both occasions. But I won't trust Lee dies again.

Lee's QC is crap. Their customer service is good. I know people like Lee but to say that Lee dies are better than anything else is a stretch.

Dillon, Redding, Hornady or Forster. RCBS if you have to.

I've added Redding Competition to my shopping list based on recommendations elsewhere and here.

I can't say anything bad about redding, but I own Lee's and LOVE THEM.

I had some Lee dies, didn't care for them and got rid of all of them except for the .50 Beowulf because no one else makes them. I wish they did.

My favorites are Forster and Redding; Redding especially for competitiom dies in spite of the cost.
