    Titegroup...Hot glock!!!

I've been using titegroup with pretty good success. My only downside is it makes my gun very hot - I'm actually afraid to holster it in my kydex holster it gets so hot.

The only loads I've been using are 185gr flat points with 5.2gr, and 230gr rn with 4.3 gr. Nothing too crazy.

Will this affect my gun is anyway? It's my duty gun which is why I'm concerned.

How does it make it hotter than other rounds or how fast? Not sure how your reloads would be physically hotter than other rounds unless your running really high pressure.

I've only ever used unique before titegroup for my reloads. My gun has never been this hot before I started using titegroup. Idk.

It simply burns hot. Same thing happens with my G41 230gr+4.8 gr load. I'm going to use my 2lb and buy somethibg cooler.

Titegroup is a very high nitro-glycerine powder and has a tendency to heat up all firearms if you shoot them fast enough.. It is one reason I stopped using it choosing Solo 1000 (single based, not as hot burning) some years ago.. I have returned to Titegroup due to it's position insensitive nature.. but it remains one of the hottest burning powders on the market. Lil'gun is also known to run very hot in the powders in it's class.. (slow burning).

Yeah, it's like that. It's not as bad as black powder cartridges but it definitely will heat up a gun. If it bugs you there's not much you can do about it other than switch powders or get a little fan to cool your Glock down faster after shooting I suppose.

I had similar effects in both my G21 and XD45 with titegroup. I'm switching to BE-86 and see how that goes. I really don't mind the heat that much as I take several guns to the range and they seem to cool down quickly enough. How many rounds are you putting through your Glock before it gets too uncomfortable, and how fast? If you are running through the various sets of your qual course really fast, maybe just take a little more time between sets.

I use Titegroup for a couple of calibers I shoot in USPSA competition. Yes Titegroup runs hot but it never seems to have negatively affected my guns or damaged any of my kydex holsters. Titegroup is a great economical powder. The only negative I can say about it is that the extra heat it generates causes more smoke from the burning lube than most other powders.

I know exactly what you mean I like titegroup but it does run hot (temperature wise)
for plinking I actually prefer WST it meters well and fills the case better along with lower burning temp.
