Powder cross reference help

For those who know for a fact can you guys make a Powder cross reference?

ie. Hodgdon Varget and H335 are good for 223 , 308
But when that brand is out of stock what other brands can we use?, numbers or type of powder is good for the main bullets we all shoot?
Ramshot? Alliant? Winchester? IMR?

To me, H335 is cheaper, which would be good for plinking rds vs Varget cost more so I would rather use that for match ammo.

Winchester 748 works good for the 223 but I do not know if it works that good for 308.

I used RL15, Varget for both 223 and 308... (more suitable to heavier 223, but lighter ones should work)

IMR4895 should work too.

I've used both H335 and Varget with great results..

I just buoght a pound of RL15, 748 and TAC to mess around with..

Mind you, i'm only doing plinking stuff..

Speer Reloading Manual references several powders for both .223 & .308. You can cross-reference Powders by Bullet type and weight.

Benchmark and TAC are what I've been using due to a lack of Varget.

IMR 4064 worked fine for .223 before going to Varget. It smells really sweet too.

I've been using H335 and W748 in .223. With everything being equal (same bullet, gun, chrono) I've seen very little difference between the two. Velocities and accuracy are almost identical.

And I think WCC 844 is the non canister grade powder that is equiv to H335 and Win 748.

WCC 846 is the non canister grade powder for BLC-2.

This. Or buy any reloading manual. Chock full of loadings using multiple powder choices for multiple calibers. No reloader should be without one. Speer's is excellent.

Google "powder burn rate" and you'll find table/info on burn-rate ranking of powders, usually from fast/pistol powder to slow/magnum-rifle powder.
