Are headspace gauges for pistols necessary or can you get away with just using the barrel to check your rounds?

Pistol headspace gauges necessary?

If you only have one pistol in that caliber it should work fine, or if you have multiple pistols and use the one with the tightest chamber...plus you have to be honest when checking to see if the rounds are all the way in.
With a gauge, it is easier to see if a round is standing proud...then there is the issue of checking one round at a time.
I do use the cylinder of my revolver to check loaded rounds...6 at a time; but I check my 9mm reloads 100 at a time and then just flip it over into a 100 round box to take to the range...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's Tale
