    New to me Dillon 550B

Back in March I bought a Dillon 550B press with several tool heads and conversion kits. I bought it from a fellow Calgunner ( valken) from Socal. Well actually I may have bought it before then, but went down to pick it up in March when I went to visit my grandkids down in SoCal. So it didn't come with everything I needed, it was missing a few things which were easy to come by from Dillon. The press sat in my garage all of this time until today. I finally got around to putting it all together and mounting it on my bench. Today I loaded my first rounds on it and boy am I happy. I used to reload on a Forster Co-AX single stage press. That means for every bullet I loaded I had to pull the lever 3 to 4 times depending on whether or not I was crimping separately. What a difference it is reloading with the 550B. I love this thing.

I'm still going to use the Forster Co-AX press for my bolt action rifle ammo though.

I know how you feel. I received the same press for X-Mas last year and love it. I had been reloading on a single stage for over 25 years. This is like "seeing" for the first time. Enjoy the ride.

Yes you are right, it is like a whole new world for me. I am going slow for sure right now, because I haven't got the rhythm down pat yet. But even going slow to prevent mistakes, I am moving a heck of a lot faster than when I had to reload on a single stage press. The blue kool aid is for me.

Yes, welcome to big blue. Randall on this list steered me correctly when I asked this question some years ago. I don't regret it.

              Went out today.

I went out today and fired my first 100 rounds made from my 550B. No problems what so ever and they were nice and accurate. Sounds like good advice. If it doesn't feel right, stop and find out why. I like that.

Glad you got the 550b? Yes i also was reloading on a single stage for a long time. Got mine used last year and have been happy ever since. My only issue is the primer system needing cleaning.
I only am pressing 9s and 40s with great results.

Me too. Right from the beginning my primer bar was getting stuck on the way back in. I took it apart and cleaned it and it was still getting stuck. I finally ended up taking some 1200 grit sand paper and lightly polishing the sides and bottom of the primer feed bar and that fixed the problem. But then I saw this item on YouTube and I ordered one off of Ebay. Check it out because I think this is the real solution.
