Save your boxes and receipts until the law goes into effect. Store and transport ammo in the old boxes.

If the local cops want to spend their resources at the California border going through thousands of boxes of ammo to "make a case" against a law abiding citizens, good luck.

Forget about bulk. If you buy 100 rounds or 22 to practice, you will be visited by the local police to answer some questions.

I had a friend who just died from cancer. He was given prescription for pain. He was in serious pain from the pancreatic cancer. The DA sent investigators to his home to hassle him, and then hassled his doctor for the prescription of narcotic pain medication.

You have the right to remain silent. In a similar situation I would exercise that right by saying something like, "Officer I would be happy to answer your questions after I have a chance to talk to my attorney and arrange to have him present. May I have your business card so that I can contact you later?"

Only a very silly officer would keep asking questions. As a former prosecutor, I can say that I long ago lost count of the number of cases that were made for me by people trying to explain.
