    Extractor dents ok?

I'm just learning how to reload, I'm going through the Lyman reloading handbook right now. Just taking a break so I decided to start inspecting my brass so it will be ready. One of the things the book says to look out for is dents. Now, do extractor dents count? It seems to me it will come out when the mouth is resized in the die, but I'm a noob so I don't know. Why I'm asking here, it's 9mm brass.

Do you mean neck/mouth dents cause from extraction and hitting the ground?

So long as they aren't split or folded I reload dented case mouths.

Yes, that's what I'm talking about.

Those are good to use. If you buy new brass the mouths on many will be out of shape. I run all new brass thru my sizer die just enough to have the expander ball true up the mouths. This will also help give you equal neck tension when you load.. After doing so I always chamfer the case mouths. I have also used a bullet to open up more badly collapsed case mouths. This is for rifle brass.
Pistol brass will straighten out usually with the expander die.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

I only have about 5,000 pieces to inspect, lol. Should take me about ten years.

I check out the case mouths as I resize them. Any real bad and I put them aside to work over or toss later.
Body dents will come out when fired. If it is a bad body dent then just toss it.
