Over time I have been collecting 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 cal brass. The brass which I have been picking up at my local range consists of mostly Winchester, Blazer Brass and Remington. I have found that the Winchester brass seem pretty durable but I wonder about the Blazer. What brass is everyone else reloading?

Range Brass Reloading

I have also loaded many different brands that I have picked up at the range. Just make sure to keep a sharp eye for damaged cases. Especially when you get into rifle brass.Comment

I've reloaded Winchester, Remington, Speer, NATO headstamps, CCI, PMC, and others that I don't even know. Never had a problem that I would attribute to the case.
The only one I toss away are AMERC. I've had two FTF's with my CZ and they were factory reloads with AMERC cases.Comment

With 45 and 40 you are looking at low pressure cartridge. As long as they are not crushed, mostly round, no major bulges and are not splitting at the neck you can reload them for a very long time many many times. Just look at each one during each step of your reloading process and discard any that you think look bad. You will probably lose more at the range than you will throw away from them going bad. Some people will do skanky things for $25, and not all those people are crack whores.

Just a correction, 45 is a relatively low-pressure cartridge (under 20,000 psi), while 40s&w and 9mm are around 30,000 psi.Comment

That is not entirely true. And blanket statements such as this are rarely very accurate. I've loaded plenty of *I* 9MM Luger ,40S&W and 45ACP, never a problem. Look closely at *I*(Independence Ammo made by CCI), CCI and Speer cases. I'm pretty sure they all come from the same factory or at least the same production methods. They reload and go bang like pretty much everything else.
When you hear about problems with brass, it's *usually* AMERC. Now that stuff is well known as junk. The primer flash holes are usually off center and look like they were punched out by a four year old in a sweat shop with an old rusty nail and a rock.
Remington, CCI, Speer, *I*, Federal, Winchester, CBC, Hornady, NATO, WCC, LC, WRA, Armscopr (ACP), Priv Part, Fiocci, Geco, IMI etc. etc. - No Problems
S&B - Watch the primer pockets, they can be too tight, enough to make you think they are crimped in primers. Some S&B are in fact crimped or so tight I end up swagging the pockets.Last edited by spencerhut; 01-16-2009, 10:16 AM.www.spencersfirearms.com

I really like the S&B .38 spl WC brass, very nice to reload, primer looks flat in the case, real eye catching, and AMERC is junk, CBC is OK in .45 but not for me in 9mm, and the rifle CBC is fine in .308Comment
