W231 at Gunshows

[What Just Happened?]

I'm out of W231 right now, so my reloading has come to a halt. I was wondering if anyone knows what was charged for W231 at the last gunshow. I know that The Fowler Room charges $20 for a pound and want to see if it's worth my time to wait for the Costa Mesa Gunshow two weekends from now.

In today's supply shortages, $20 a pound isn't too bad. My best price ever was $14 a pound, but that was over 10 years ago at a gun show.

I suppose the real solution to my problem would be to have enough reloading supplies on hand to prevent this sort of situation from happening.

Anyone know when the next SoCal Powder Valley GB is gonna happen?

I have also tried HP38, it appears to be very similar to W231. I wouldn't recommend mixing the 2 in 1 batch (never!!) but the recipes are identical.

Every so often there are group buys from powder valley , I belive my last purchase of 231 6 months ago I paid $64 for 4 lbs with shipping and hazmat. that will last me for a little while

I paid $ 135 for an 8# cannister at Costa Mesa in December.

Hmm... You usually get 1# free in an 8# jug. That means that it was roughly $19.30 for a pound at the gunshow. Thanks for the pricing. Looks like I might as well buy the powder at Fowlers. But I know that primers are definitely to be bought at the gunshows.

$135 for an 8# at the ONLY powder seller at Costa Mesa. I got there early Sat and hit that table no later than 10am - and watched the last of the powders I wanted be sold as I stoof waiting with cash in hand.

At this point / date, I'd pay whatever I had to to get ANY, and hope to buy more at the gunshow.

What I meant is that when you buy an 8# jug, its price is equal to that of seven 1# cans.

Yeah, I remember hitting up the Costa Mesa gunshow dealer and seeing only scarce amounts of Remington large pistol primers (which were the most expensive of the LP primers).

And the part that amazes me is 4 months ago when I was selling powder for $10 lb I had a hard time , I was having to sell primers for 1/2 price just to move them . I finally got rid of them though
