Start with the Lee Perfect powder measure. It's like $20 but if it throws the powder you like well then it will likely throw it better than any other measure short of the very expensive ones. If it doesn't then you can set it up for whatever you don't care about and not have to constantly convert your good measure.
If I was going to buy a new measure tomorrow it would be a culver a Redding BR3 or the lyman 55 measure.Last edited by milotrain; 05-31-2016, 7:58 AM.weg: That device is obsolete now. They replaced it with wizards.

I've had a hornady for about ever. Works great. I'm not throwing bench rest precision loads. Mostly for the garand so .2-.3 gr variances aren't even noticeable. Only "issue" is with long grain powders like 4895 as you'll feel a kernel or two crunch as you throw the charge. Does it matter? No. Ball powders are no issue.
If precision matters, throw 1/2 grain short then use a trickler. I don't have the patience

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

A Culver is the best, hands down, but you won't get one of those (http://harrellsprec.com/index.php/ca...owder-measures) for under $100. You could probably get an RCBS Uniflow and a powder trickler for right around $100.Comment

Although it is not in your budget, I have found the Quick Measure to be one of the most consistent measures for stick powders but is very dependent on you being smooth and consistent.
I haven't tried a Harrels yet though and would like to as it seems well made and thought out.
The only way I get the results I'm looking for is to drop with a cheap-o Lee and trickle in a tuned beam scale. Tedious and time consuming.
BTW - I am not obsessive / compulsive nor anal retentive just trying to accomplish something with precision and accuracy.Anyone press will hear the fat lady sing.

I've had great success with mine throwing trail boss and titegroup. Last trip to the range I chronoed a SD of 7.8 FPS with Trail boss plinking loads for my 45-70. The chronograph doesn't lie!
