7.5 swiss brass... can't find any!!!

Hey all, I've been trying to find anyone who carries PPU 7.5 Swiss brass from months, appears it's all gone for now and the only option for brass is Norma (at 1.50 a piece shipped, YIKES!) The other option is to buy loaded PPU and keep the brass at about dollar shipped.

Has anyone loaded for their K31 with both PPU and Norma? I'm really considering just popping for the Norma so I don't have to either pull the loaded ammo or go through firing all of it just to get the brass for my loads. Is the Norma stud really worth the extra money?

    Thanks a bunch!!

I don't think that PPU brass is "gone" its just I think there is a consistent demand for loaded ammo as opposed to brass. For milsurps, I think folks would rather shoot it than reload for it.

There is really nothing special about Norma brass other than if you can't get PPU then you have Norma. The K31 or 96/11 can't tell the difference

Moderate loads (for me, as long as it gets to 200 yards that's good!) and annealing the necks make it last longer. Not by a stretch but it does.

Try SRDC, I'm sure that someone over there has a stash of 7.5 Swiss brass.

Privi makes it in batches then rotates to another caliber. That's why it comes and goes.

Did you check with Graf & Sons? That is where I got mine.

Grads and powdervalley is where I usually check first.

I regularly shoot my k31 out to 500+ yards so reloading actually is a necessity. Loaded ammo from PPU is mediocre at best. Why settle for mediocre when I load better ammo cheaper?
Just trying to see if the added expense of the norma is really worth it.

Last time I bought some it wasn't that much more expensive than buying their brass. Might as well get the brass in convenient pre-loaded form...

May as well buy the loaded PPU from Grafs and tear it down. Get it while the getting's good.

If you can't find 7.5 Swiss brass, you can always reform .284 Winchester...... assuming you can find some.

Bigbossman I actually thought about that.... then I saw that getting that brass was equally difficult. I'll likely just buy up a few hundred rounds of loaded and go that route. Although now there will always be a bug nagging me to get some norma brass....

OP you can convert the surplus empties to boxer primers.

I'd get the PPU brass so you won't feel so bad when you inadvertently crush a case.

That's a very good way to go. It's how I got my brass for the Mosin, and the Prvi brass reloads pretty darn well. The Prvi ammo shoots pretty well, too.

Back when these rifles first showed up in the late 90's, the rifles were imported everywhere but no one had any ammo. All of us that bought these rifles just bought .284 Winchester (which was common and plentiful at the time) and went about our business.

I sold the rifle, along with the brass and dies, several years ago. I had no idea until now that .284 Winchester brass had become obsolete and scarce.
