    Hornady brass

Has anyone had any experience or issues with new Hornady 308 Win brass? I tried a box of 50 last week. All went fine when prepping (FL sized and trimmed), primed and loaded to nowhere near max. No pressure signs such as flattened primers or ejection marks except 18 with no ignition of the primer. I thought I had an issue with firing pin protrusion or drag. Tried 2 boxes of factory ammo and they all went bang.

I decided to take the "defective" rounds back and process them again. All 18 rounds have very loose primer pockets. They seat with very little effort and some are wiggling too.

Sorry, no pictures at this time. I seat them anywhere from .003-.005" below flush.

I've found a few articles from other sites that say this is common with Hornady brass. The primer pockets open up too fast and also the brass used is softer than other brands.

You use the term "wiggling". That would cause me to be concerned. Throw away brass that allows a primer to move in the pocket. I would not fire that in my gun.

They may have been annealed wrong and are soft and weak.
Call Hornady and let them know.
Don't load any cases that have "loose" primer pockets.
PS: did you "UNIFORM" the primer pockets and maybe expanded and ruined them?

I haven't thought about giving them a call but I certainly will.
The primer pockets were cleaned but I did not uniform them at all.
