    Hornady lnl auto charge problem

I've been using my hornady auto charge and no big problems except every now and then it acts up by dispencing a charge then it won't zero and throw another , sometimes turning the machine off and on agian fixes it for a bit but then it acts up agian, I've calibrated it, let the scale stabilize tried getting rid of static by wearing a ground and using a static mat, anyone have problems with these? Maybe know what the he'll is going on with it As i have only used it for a few hundred rounds and am about to chuck out the window

no experience with it personally but have you contacted hornady about it? The few issues i had with other products was immediately replaced free of charge, no questions asked

I'm waiting on them to respond, I figure it should go smoothly but I ask just in case there's I shred of knowledge I'm missing. Kinda of a bummer to have all the components you need for a few k and then you 3 month old powder measure that has only seen loading 20 rds at a time not want to do anything,

yup that's a pain, kind of why i try to avoid anything electronic for the exact reason you have. Everything ready to go and something that's out of your control holding you back

"You are waiting for them to respond?"
I quick PHONE CALL and you will have your answers!
That has always worked for me.

if you sent a email, it may take a few days for an answer. call them.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

Their phones open at 8AM Central. If you're on the West coast, you may try calling before you go to work. Like the others here, I've had nothing but exceptional service from them and I always contact them via phone.

Why is everyone trying to help me call them that's not the problem! Never asked for help calling or needing help to figure out time zones! Its simple I have a problem with the scale was wondering if anyone has had simular problems and may know of a fix or what causes it! ......this is where my sarcasm wants to shine and ask for there number cause that hasn't been posted yet

I had some issues with my LnL auto charger. So I set mine up to where it was the only device plugged into the electrical circuit and I did not have flouresent lighting on in the area I was working in. This really helped me out and my powder drops were way more accurate. I verified them with mt RCBS 10-10 scale. I also let the unit warm up for an hour before using it.
I have done so much with so little for so long that now I can do almost anything with nothing at all.

Well, they are just trying to help. We could hand-wave lots of things, but the most important is:
be sure the unit is level and it returns to ZERO after the empty pan is placed on the platter (it can not auto-dispense until the unit returns to ZERO).
                      Other suggestions would include:
use a surge-protected powder strip, use a "line cleaner," determine if hitting the mode button, that switches between auto-metering and manual metering, "fixes" the problem without turning the unit off, etc.

I know you have read it, but Hornady says:
                      **TIPS TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE
                      1) Fluctuation in temperature, even a couple of degrees, can cause scale readings to vary. While the scale can be used right away, optimal performance will occur after unit has warmed up for 5-15 minutes.
                      2) Always place the scale on a flat, level, and stable surface when in operation.
                      3) Electrical interference can cause scale readings to vary. Keep other electronic devices (power strips, florescent lights, motors, radios, phones, etc) away from scale when in operation.
                      4) Do not let a fan, AC, heater, or open window blow on scale.
                      5) Use of the clear cover over the powder pan will improve accuracy, and lessen the effects of outside variables.

**In AUTO dispense mode, the unit will beep when the dispense cycle is complete. A red or green light will also appear in the top left corner of the keypad. A green light indicates a correct charge, while a blinking red light indicates an OVER charge and must be cleared by pressing ENTER. Do not use OVER charges.

**MODE: Press MODE button to switch from AUTO to MANUAL mode before entering Target Weight.
AUTO – Each dispensing cycle will begin once the empty pan is placed back on the scale plate and the scale re-zeros itself.

I got my return label and will be shipping it back, the problem was spuratic so I hope it acts up when it gets to its destination. Good call on the surge protector, I didnt try that one. I may have to try it before throwing it into a box, but everything else I tried even having it be the only electronoc device plugged into the breaker circuit. My wife thought I was crazy when I turned off the kitchen breaker as my reloading room and the kitchen have a common wall haha
