Which Small Rifle Primer to use?

I'm in the process of getting all my materials together to start reloading. I'll be doing 223 and 6.8 rounds. Which is the better primer to use CCI 450's or CCI #41?

I'm not reloading for super accuracy bench shooting, just trying to build some solid rounds for target plinking (223) and hunting (6.8).

    Thanks

Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

      What powder(s) are you using?

You may not need a magnum primer, like the CCI 450 or #41.

I use CCI 400 primers in my 223 loads, even with ball powders such as H335 and WC844.

Never had any issues with the 400s.
Load tons of h335 win 748 etc under all different loads and bullet combinations

Looking at Ramshot TAC powder. I don't have any powder yet either.

It depends what rifle he is reloading for. An AR15 should use CCI #41 primers because of the free floating firing pin.

Both the 223 and 6.8 are AR platforms...

The little searching I did on youtube leans towards the #41 primers.

Get the #41 for the safety aspect

The CCI Magnum primers use the same cup and resists floating primer slamfires.

I use CCI Mags in my AR, but the #41 will also work great.

                      For CCIs, I use 450s.

                      For Remington, I use 7 1/2 BR.

                      Currently, I use Wolf/Tula small rifle magnum primer, KVB556M, since I stocked-up

With either CC41's or 400s you should be good to go. 25.6 grains of TAC through my 16" ballistic advantage barrel shoots close to .5moa at a 100yards.

.223 for the above mentioned. For 68 try 28.6 grains of AA2200 or 25.6grns of H4198. Load both to 2.295 coal. See what you get using 110 GRN Hornady HPBT.

Planning on using 100gr GMX bullets for non-lead requirement. I have a couple hundred S&B 110gr already on hand for the range.

Haven't had a chance to score the 100grn GMXs yet. Let me know if you find a good load for them. I need to go that route too. Right now for hunting I'm running the 95grn TTSX with 30grns of AA2200. Same coal. I have really good results with this load.
