Do these primers look okay?
Have a good day!Tags: None -
They should be fine. Every manufacturer has a slightly different color if not totally different Color.

I think I have some of these - I'll double check what they look like when I am back at the cave.sigpic

Just checked my Winchester primers, both small and large pistol. Mine use a rust-colored primer compound. It looks like your rifle primers use a greenish compound, similar to what Federal uses. You should be fine.
On the pistol primers, I've found no appreciable difference between Winchester and anybody else but Federal (Federal uses softer primer cups). Not sure about rifle; all of my rifle primers are Tula."San Francisco Liberal With A Gun"

If they are only 5 years old put them away and use up some of the ones that are more than 10 years old. I am using primers I got in the 1960's for $.78 per tray. They all go boom and produce very small groups when I do my job behind the trigger. They are fine I have many just like them.A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

I've been using some primers packed with wood dividers. They are probably from the 1950s and work great. If you're worried about 5 year old primers, you really need to learn a lot more before you reload. Primers and even loaded ammunition should last +100 years if stored in a cool dry spot. If you are really worried about your "old" primers, bring them to me and I'll trade you straight across for some S&B primers I bought at the end of 2015.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

While it's true that powder and primers store for very long periods of time, it all depends on how they were stored - low humidity, relatively tollerable temperature, etc... If these were stored in high humidity, they may not be as good as you think they are. Just be safe. orbetter yet, just throw one in a fire. and it should pop. Just be safe when doing it- 80% AR Fan
