I've never used pine bedding but I would assume that it would leave a residue (pine sap?). Corn cob & walnut shells are both neutral... no residue. I heard you can buy it at the pet store too... dunno, haven't looked myself.
As for the chrome polish... many moons ago, I believe I read in an old reloading book (Extremely old! I've been reloading for over 25 years!) that you could use that. Just make sure it doesn't have any ammonia in it... weakens brass.
If you are trying to save some $$, just use plain walnut media without the polish (I use a 50/50 mix of corn cob & walnut shells). Won't be shiny bright, but it will be clean. -
I use what I find in the garage. old brass polish and mothers seem to work. Also to the nay-sayers on walnut, it will shin up brass fine, just add more polish, and another hour in the tumbler. Find a grain/feed store and get the right stuff, a 50 pound sack will be under $15-$20, and ur set for a few years.FOR SALE: XD45, 24/47 Yugo Mauser, AK RPD AES-10bComment
