    Reloading 5.56/223 (in one pass)

Is is possible to setup a progressive press to reload 5.56/223 in one go? Meaning it can go from the case feeder and get sized/deprimed, swaged, primed, trimmed, chamfered, powdered, bullet, seated and crimp all in one go?

If so, what press and add-ons would I need to get? Thanks!

As far as I know this isn't possible in any press. The dillon comes close but it would take 2 passes. First pass would size, de-prime, swage, and trim. Second pass would size (if you wanted to again), prime, powder, seat, & crimp.

you should only have to swage your brass one time.
your bullet die should be able to seat and crimp at the same time.

your rifle brass needs lube on the inside of the case neck, not sure how it would affect the powder and bullet seating.

you can get this press. an extra station would help.

I thing the Dillon 1050 comes the closest. But t does not trim... And at $1800 starting price unless you are in production is it worth it? For that price you can get 2 650's and set them up side by side and one does half the process the other does the other half

I send my 223 brass out for professional prep. At $45.00 per K the time saved it worth it. It gets cleaned, sized, trimmed, pockets swaged, pressure tested, checked for cracks and then cleaned again. Then I load it in one one pass. I get it done through a cal-gunner located in Long Beach.

To get around trimming I’ve read about people using RCBS X-Die’s but you will still have to trim, swage, and ream the primer pockets on the first go. After that you could run them through on a single pass.

Hmmm… Never thought about using a brass prep service. I wonder if they’ll only trim, swage, ream the primer pockets, and inspect.

How about a CAMDEX? Not that you want to afford one...

But what if you added the Dillon RT1500 trimmer to it?

With the rt1500 attached I don't think you have enough room for a full toolhead setup. What you're wanting to do can't be done on a SINGLE press in ONE pass.

I went to an ammunition manufacturing company and had a tour. They did it in one pass with new brass. I don't know if any machine can do it for reloading. Once you have sized the brass first, it may.

Well, If that's the case and I have to run the brass twice. Would I be better off getting the 650 or the 1050. I only plan to run 223 on it. Budget is not an issue. Thanks!

Even though budget isn't an issue same yourself some money & get the 650. It's capable of pumping out more than enough rounds per hour. Spending $1800 on a 1050 just to reload 1 caliber is crazy. Use that extra money to get upgrades/options for the 650

650 is a bad choice if your budget is big. The 650 doesn't swage the primer pocket, but the 1050 does and seating primers on the downstroke is priceless. I have a 550, 650, and 1050 on my bench. Add a Mr bulletfeeder to the 1050, it makes the job much smoother. Changing tool heads on the1050 is no big deal. I bought mine just for 9 then got a head to run 40. The only downside to the 1050 is the cost.

I thought I saw a swager upgrade for the XL 650... On eBay none the less.
                            Yup, I did: http://m.ebay.com/itm/G-S-Custom-The...138?nav=SEARCH

I can't remember the video I saw but I seen it done. I did find another video. The only thing you would have to do it do the primer pockets before you start reloading or do like I do. I buy nickle plated brass for my 223. It is easy to find and it doesn't have crimped pockets.
