RF 100 From Dillon - Happy, Right?

    Hello,

For those of you that have the RF 100 from Dillon - you're pretty happy, right?
How about the conversion kit - is that OK too?

I searched this forum - found nothing but 'I'm real glad I got one.' types of comments.

    Thanks,
    jwest

I've seen people who maybe had a little bit of initial trouble because the unit wasn't level or something like that but that's about it.

I wanted one real bad for a long time, but I read more "bad" reviews then good reviews and decided against it. The bad reviews were always the same thing, putting primers in upside down, granted they were rare but they happened. The RF100 is a weird toy considering how long they have been selling it, there are not a lot of reviews on the web about it. Good or bad, just not a lot.

I have one. Bought it because I didn't like filling primer tubes. I was disappointed that it put several upside down primers in every tube. I played with it and got it so it would work some time but you had to watch it fill so you wouldn't get upside down ones.
I installed the motor speed control upgrade, a little trial and error and it works great now.

I think that's because it's so ridiculously expensive. Believe me, I've considered one despite the price and no doubt it probably is worth not having to fiddle with filling primer tubes manually. But, I just can't bring myself to spend that kind of jack on it.

If you're OK with more fiddling and less cash the $50 vibra prime definitely works but you will probably have to a little sanding/polishing and make sure your primer tubes don't have any kind of burr in the opening for primers to catch on (I put a slight bevel in all of mine).

Vibra Prime user here. I just use the Dillon primer tubes inserted instead of the tubes that come with the unit.

I think everybody does it that way.

                    Very happy with my RF100.

Just like any progressive press, you just need to figure out its sweet spot.

Mine will load a tube in under a minute.

Small to large takes a few minutes to convert.

I can't remember the last time I had an upside down primer.

                      RayB and everyone,

                      Thanks for the replies.

Looks like this will be my next purchase from Dillon.

So does dillon sell a conversion kit, or do you just buy the parts and make one yourself?

This^^^ Polishing the exit hole in the tray, the top of the filler tube, and beveling the inside of all the tube ends involved really does the trick.
Other than the massive popularity of the 9mm Parabellum round, the metric system never really caught on here...
