Bullet Base Location

Bolt action reloading, if the base of the bullet is behind the neck shoulder junction,vs at or into the neck, all the other aspects adjusted for the move, more space equals more powder, increased velocity, equal pressure, ream throat for the added freebore,is there any accuracy advantages or disadvantages ?

More powder doesn't mean your going to get an increase in accuracy.More often than not it is the opposite.

The extra freebore keeps the heel of the bullet away from the donut area and gives you more velocity ala Weatherby.
The reason you see so many chamberings with the heel of the bullet seated so deeply is so they will fit a magazine.
You won't find any accuracy chamberings set up that way only factory rifles.
Once you spec a reamer for a custom build you put the heel 0.050 in front of the neck/shoulder junction.

Thanks Lynn, that's the conclusion I came to reading articles all over the web,pick up a throat reamer and clear a path,

If you buy a brand new 338 Lapua reamer today it is set up for 250 grain bullets.
If you decide to shoot 300 grain Bergers or 300 grain MatchKings the heel will be way inside the neck.
None of these bullets where available when the 338 Lapua first came out so unless you specifically ask for more freebore your bullets will be seated overly deep.
This causes problems because people will post higher than normal velocities without posting there over all length.
The Sierras in this case need 0.150 more freebore than do the Bergers.
A throater is a must have.
