300 blackout hunters

I've reading up on how to convert 223 to 300 and in process of getting mini cutters ..sockets and wrenches etc etc

but would like veterans to input on which powders and leadfree bullets I should be using . I much rather slowly stock up on components lil by lil

I don't use my 300 AAC for hunting, but if I was going to I would use these Barnes TTSX and probably go with about 150 gr for deer/yotes, maybe 168.

I would use Accurate 1680, for anything under 200 gr. and H-110/W296 for anything over. These are the powders I use, with W296 I've been loading 210 gr SMK subsonic rounds with 10.5 gr W296. If you're out of Cali, and can use a suppressor, subsonic is the way to go. These rifles shoot supersonic fine also.

Lead free bullets need velocity to expand. With an underpowered round like the 300BLK you should go with a Barnes 110 TTSX.

If you are trying to build a pig/deer gun out of an ar15, you would be much better off with a 6.8 SPC II.

It'll be most likey yote pistol , but you do have a point . I'll just have to expand my options and do some searching

do you use magnum primer with H110 ? I usually use magnum pistol primer with H110 for 44mag

I put the 150 gr Hornady SP on top of 18gr of A5744. I have not hunted wth it but get 1" groups at 100 yards. I found OAL to be critical to accuracy in my 16" Anderson Mfg 1/8 barrel.

I pushed the 110's to well over 20 grains of H110, they went VERY fast...

I dont know if id consider a 110 going ~2400 Fps fast lol.

When you take into consideration that barnes recommends a minimum of 2100fps at impact to reliably expand most of their TTSX, 2400fps isn't optimal for ethical hunters.

I'm glad you are getting good velocity out of your rifle, but underpowered is underpowered. Unless you plan on shooting everything at 50 yards or less there are many better choice for ar hunting. I'd rather have a 223 when it comes to lead free than a 300BLK.

110 Tac TX. 1680.. yes i hunted with it. Guided my mom for a Bear hunt. Got in about 70 yards. Took it from a quarter away right behind the shoulder. Through and through. The exit wound was about double the enterance. Inside was pretty messed up but not as much as a 110gr Vmax or Varmageddon would do. It did break a rib on enterance and part of the shoulder as it went out.

FPS is right at 2240fps.

The 110 tac-tx was designed for 300BLK. The expansion threshold is 1300FPS.
The OP asked for anyone with experience with 300blk, what powder and what projectile, for hunting.
Your post's about "underpowered" and "I don't call that fast", are more internet fund from someone who undoubtedly has no experience with 300BLK, which is what the OP was asking for.
It always amazes me how the Calguns no-it-alls come out to play. If you don't have anything solid to offer the OP about 300BLK, which is what he asked for, why would you even post on this thread?
There are lots of lonely people on the 6.8 forum.
