    .223 Boolits suggestions

I am starting to reloading rifle rounds and am having trouble deciding on which projectile to choose. I will be firing this form a rifle length AR 1/9 twist.

    1) 22 CAL 68 GR Boat Tail Hollow Point MATCH $16.20

    2) 22 CAL 75 GR A-MAX MOLY $19.99

    3) 22 CAL 75 GR Boat Tail Hollow Point MOLY $18.30

    4) Hornady 22c (.224) 75gr BTHP BULLET MATCH $16.79

I would go with #1. Also, what kind of shooting are you planning on doing?

I have always had good luck with Sierrra 69gr MK's over Varget.

Go for #1 but throw in a #4 for testing purposes.

The 75 a maxes you shouldn't load to mag length in an AR. They're way too long. Otherwise they are a fantastic bullet. Just have to single feed it in the AR.

I've had good luck with the hornady 68gr HPBT's. Pats reloading has the 68's and 75's for 129 and 134 per thousand, respectively.

This will mostly be for bench rest shooting. Thanks fellas.

The 1/9 twist will not stableize the 75 grain & up bullets. Go with a 68 or 69 grain.

All of my 1 in 9's stabilize 75 and 77 hpbt's just fine. Many have similar experiences. Really depends on the individual barrel and velocity. The 75 amax is the one that would be VERY questionable under 2850 fps in a 1 in 9. It is much longer than even the 77 hpbt's.

The 1/9 will stabilize 75gr if he is shooting it out of a 20" barrel, which I believe he is.

That statement is incomplete for it does not account for barrel length and therefore net velocity of the projectile.

The barrel is rifle length - 20"

I'll be going with the 69 grain for now.
I'm still new to reloading rifle rounds so I'm taking it slow.
