If you have to buy reloading components at standard prices, are you going to keep shooting your Mosins or are you returning to your Mausers, Springfields and Garands?

I have brass and load my own for the Mosin when I do not want to have to clean it from corrosive ammo.
So I already have supplies plus I have a large supply of surplus. I have at least 8-9 cans of it.

My Finn and Polish Mosins get handloads already. Those get shot at the range that doesn't allow magnetic bullets.

The Soviet and Chinese Mosins get fed surplus currently and when that runs dry if I cannot replace it, they won't be shot often.

I use the same powder for .303 Brit, 7.62x54r, and 8mm Mauser. Same bullet for .303 Brit, 7.62x54r, and 7.65x53 Belgian (Argentine). So I just load what I feel like loading.

By the way, the Finns benefit from handloading (well, they did when I shot them at paper, but now I just shoot steel targets with them). The Polish does not benefit from my handloads as far as groups go and the Chinese shoots just as well as the Polish with the same ammo. But the Polish carbine looks a hundred times better

Milsurp ammo don't last that long and prices really go up.

I have dies, brass, and bullets for 8mm but don't load for that yet.

Feels really good to learn how to reload since I can *make* my ammo not just buy!

I shoot handloads in my Mosins (both are Finns). Like Beetle Bailey I use the same powder for my military rifles and I have plenty of .311/.312 bullets between my Enfields and Mosins. Eventually the surplus will completely dry up and handloading may become the most cost effective method.

Im sitting on 2 1/2 tins of 7.62x54r and 1 1/2 tins of 8mm so I'll probably reload for the 8mm first when the time comes. Or I'll get a Grarand, because I already reload 30-06. I do want a Grarand though. Hmmm...

Handload. For bolt guns, just get some neck-sizing die sets and have at it. That means Mosins, Mausers, M1903's, K31's, etc.

Also remember that bolt guns are cast boolit-friendly, so you can cast for your Mosin, Mauser, M1903, etc. and really reduce the cost of your marksmanship practice ammo.

And since I have now joined the M1 Garand club...I'll be reloading for that, too! :-)

I have a ton of Mosin surplus, and don't shoot that many rounds a year, so not running out any time soon, but I do handload for them as well for when I don't feel like cleaning that day or when I'm shooting a M39 and want the accuracy.

I do use relatively cheap Privi bullets so the cost is under control.
