lock n load type on dillon 550

powder measure, i'm beginning to suspect i'd get better accuracy if i could replace the dillon slider with a LNL type measure.

    anyone done it?

I have a Dillon 450. I use an alternate powder throw. I have a Harrell's Precission throw atop my Dillon 450. It will meter out to 0.03 grains.

Explore Harrell's Precision for high-quality reloading equipment, powder measures, shooting accessories, precision tools.

Being a machinist before I mounted the throw atop the powder die with an old indicator arm mounted to the Dillon press.

    I'm using BE-86 powder.

You can use this below. Dillon's adapter to mount your powder throw.

Be creative, and test to see what works for you.

I know a guy that added one of these weights to his Dillon powder measure.

Prior to adding it he was always complaining about consistency. After adding it he has much better throws. He loves it, kept talking about it for a couple weeks he did.

Lnl powder drop on a Dillon FTW! Best of both worlds, red and blue makes purple kool-aide!

Didn't purple Kool-aid kill all the Jonestown followers?

I'm trying to figure out exactly is wrong with the Dillon powder thrower.
A few weeks ago I loaded 800 rounds for the Area 2 championship. I constantly checked the weights of the charges, I checked over a 100 loads. My load is 3.8gr VV N320 and out of the ones I checked only a few weren't 3.8gr, I think I had 1 that was 3.9gr and couple that were 3.7gr. When they Chrono'ed my rounds at A2 the spread over the 3 rounds they Chono was 4 fps.

The repeatability on the Dillon powder thrower and always been excellent and well with in what anyone could want from a progressive. In my years of using my Dillon press I would say %90+ of the powder charges are spot on.

i "bubba-ed" it from a steel rod that i threaded at both ends. one end is a round disc of wood the other is a old router collet for weight.
it did seem to even out the throws.

Some people have issues with the rifle stick powders in the Dillon.

I'm firmly of the same opinion based on God only knows how many thousands of powder drops thru Dillon powder drops.

Admitted to using a Lyman 1200 DPS for stick powders. The Dillon just does not cut it with IMR 4064. Don't see how that would be any different using the RCBS or Hornady powder droppers. I do have several RCBS powder droppers but have never tried 4064 thru them.
