First range trip with winchester 9mm

So I finally took my new XD9 for its first range trip. I had a 100rnd box of winchester 115g ammo and decided to just plink the steel targets for today. Pretty uneventful untill I'm reloading my mags and find this.

Is this pretty common with this ammo? I don't imagine it would have chambered but still pretty ugly.
Aside from that everything went smoothly, 100 rnds goes way to fast though...I guess it was 99 rnds.

Inform Winchester!I bet you will receive a box of ammo for that one cartridge.
    Keep it simple!

OMG! I'll never buy factory Ammo again. But seriously, yes, this happens, probably not frequently. And the manufacturer will probably make it right if you let them know in a courteous manner.

I'm sure the manufacturer will take care of you. Its hard to believe something so obviously wrong would pass through QC

It's amazing the junk you get with factory ammo. 9mm in particular is such a commodity they really don't spend much time checking it unless it's defense grade or whatever.

Yep, and there were a lot of people in that particular thread who complained about only buying factory new ammo as well. I guess this only goes to show that reloaded ammo (from Freedom Munitions) and new manufactured ammo (in this case from Winchester) can pass QC.

With demand for ammo being as high as it is,things like this are going to happen.

I totally agree which is why I questioned the OP in the other thread about what exactly he was expecting the company to do. Just as this thread demonstrates, things happen and in the firearms industry ammo not being properly inspected is bound to happen. Its good that the OP in this thread is not expecting much and just voicing his concerns which I would direct towards Winchester for them to be aware of. However, in the other thread it seemed that the OP was not content and expected more.

It doesn't bother me much as its only one round. It did have me paying more attention as I was reloading my mags after that. I'm usually popping them in the mags pretty quickly.

I will say that I've gone through a few thousand rounds of .22lr and about 300 rounds so far of 5.56 and have never seen anything like this. This is my first box of 9mm. But from the responses on here it sounds like it's not uncommon.

Update: I contacted winchester through their site and later recieved a call with instructions on how to go about sending the round to them. I was emailed a pre paid label to send it to them. Today I recieved a check to buy a new box .

nice job on the reimbursement ! i wouldnt expect them not to make it right. when you are pumping out thousands and thousands of the products an hour it becomes almost impossible to QC inspect 100% they are maybe checking 1 or 2 of every box so some are bound to sneak by
