Wet tumbling question

So I just gotten into reloading and I am wet tumbling my cases. I usually use ss media with a pinch of lemme shine and a few drops of Dawn for 2/3 hours depending how dirty the cases are. When I rinse them they look shine and new and usually shoot them in less than a month. I just found a box of 50 (9mm) I reloaded a while ago and the brass looked dirty like the brass is tarnished. Is this a common thing for wet tumbling?

I compared them to reloads I bought at the gun show over a year ago and the ones I got from the gun show look cleaner than the ones I reloaded two months ago.

Any raw metal with no protection coating will oxidize. How bad is the tarnish? They should still shoot ok. Will they still plunk test in a gage?

Might be a little too much lemi shine. You could also give it a swirl with some baking soda when you rinse to neutralize the citric acid from the lemi shine.

Yea I checked it with a case gauge and fits flush. And I will try the baking soda in my next batch. Thanks

Replace the Dawn with ArmorAll Wash and Wax. It leaves a protective coating on cases to prevent tarnishing.

I do suspect that you didn't rinse them well enough

I pull the dried cases out of the oven and throw directly into a vibratory tumbler with corn cob & NuFinish car wax (for 15 min)while the cases are still warm. Cases don't oxidize anymore.

Me too. I've got brass sitting in open plastic containers that was tumbled over a year ago that's still spotless and perfectly shiny. I don't use any form of citric acid in my wet tumble either. Just a healthy squirt of dawn and hot water.
