    Berdan Primers?

Got it stuck in my head to reload the old military loads and it won't go away.
Anyone know where to find bredan primers?

I know it's only one day, but the lack of replies reflects the lack of supply.
I can't figure why they would'nt be imported. Seems all other guns and ammo from old stock piles make it here.

I read that PMC imported some. Check the PMC ammo website.

They are imported, but just in very short supply right now from what I've heard here and on other forums.

why reload berdan? i read someone where u can convert your berdan primered case into boxer primer. Just drill the correct size hole where the boxer primer flashhole is located at.

of course dont listen to me =]

You can actually deprime them pretty easily. It is time consuming but possible. I have some berdan cases that I deprime using a piston and water. You basically build a jig that holds the case (which you fill with water prior to putting it in the jig). Next, insert the piston and give it a smack. Out pops the berdan primer. Time consuming, but possible. I will try to find the website that detailed the jig specs.

I've tried the Bredan depriming tool from RCBS and after 2 broken tips I learned to use it. The removal is inconsistant and I think there is still a chance of breaking more tips. Them dudes ar'nt cheap.
I then went with the water hydraulic system and tried various mandrels.Tried wood, plastic (like UHMW), drill bits, and finally a machined mandrel. The machined one worked the best and would require one for each caliber. The down side is the water. The tighter the fit the less splash. Compared to the cost of brass, I don't mind the work.
The hole that the primer is pressed into is Metric and I've read that there are about 8 different sizes. I would'nt be comfortable drilling out the primer hole on my own. If there was a experienced loader that would help me, I would consider it.
One caliber I want to reload for is the 7.62x45 Cech round; very difficult to find and the wildcat versions look like alot of work.
I'll check the PMC site , thanks for the lead.
