    Powder for reloading 223

I'm on vacation in Reno right now and planning to pick up a pound of powder at Cabela's or Sheels for reloading 223.

The problem is that I don't have my reloading manual with me. Can anyone suggest a few good options for me?

I'm planning to shoot 55 or 62 grain bullets out of my AR.

To add to Highpowers list of powders, 4064 works as well.

              My thoughts exactly.

              1 pound = 7000 grains

Conservatively figuring about 25gr per round and that's 280 rounds.

might as well pick up and 8 pounder if you can.

Thanks guys. I've only loaded pistol rounds so a pound lasts a long time.

Last time I bought powder at Cabela's they only carried 1 pounders. They said it was some fire department regulation.

I'm going to get a few thousand primers while I'm there.

H335, Winchester 748 those 2 are my personal favorite as they meter well and are flake so they won't bridge and spill.
Reloader 15? Variety are good as well but are stick and have had bridging issues which can make a mess.

As mentiones, H335, Win 748. Ramshot TAC works real well, if they have it. Very clean burning.

H335 and WIN 748 are great powders that I use everyday. Varget of course is a favorite with some bullets but not necessarily better than the other two.

No mentions of BL-C2? I have loaded thousands of plinking rounds and it meters like water! I've safely tested up to 28g with a 55g FMJBT without pressure signs, but you will be well served in the 25-26g range.
