Just replace the .308 and .223 with .44... LOL.. Oh and for pistol, you don't need the trimmer.Originally posted by tankermanI think most folks bubba their AR's because they watch too many action movies, play too many video games and don't understand how to socialize properly, so they fantasize about being 'action hero's'. Hey Chief....give the guy a break!! Yeah all that Dillon stuff is good, but not really necessary in the beginning.
If you want to get started, take a look at the Lee stuff. If you like reloading, there's lots of time to move on to progressive presses, etc.
First and foremost is don't reload to SAVE money....you'll have to do one heck of a lot of it to make that happen at today's component prices. Do it for accuracy and more options than you can find in commercial factoy loads.
You'll need at a minimum a...press, scale, dies/shellholder, priming tool, case trimmer/ measuring device and of course bullets, powder and primers.
As I recall, Lyman and RCBS used to offer a starter kit with most everthing needed to get started.sigpicComment

if you dont want to spend too much money this might be another way to go for a lot cheaper. This is what i use, the primer mechanism kinda sucks, but i have learned to deal with it.
to convert to 44

You could start with something like this ....Originally posted by compulsivegunbuyerI think I'll start with one of the cheaper presses mand see how it goes. Thanks.
and then get a couple of good books on reloading. Experience will tell you what you will need in the future.sigpicComment

The Challenger Kit is better than the Lee Anniversary kit IMHO. It gives you more options for priming than the current anniversary kit.You could start with something like this ....

Definitely start with some cheaper more economical equipment. I got started loading for around $800. Just make sure you have the time to reload and I suggest reading at least 2-3 reloading manuals before you get started. If your not reloading for accuracy, then get some cheaper equipment for sure. I started reloading for the .338 lapua because that stuff is mighty expensive. Also remember pistol ammo is cheaper than rifle so It may not be cost effective for you to reload. Maybe sell your used brass and buy the pistol ammo instead. But if your looking for a new hobby, reloading can be fun and rewarding.Billy Goat Machine

$800 dollars is enough to get started even with the high dollar dillon stuff."I Always Tell The Truth Even When I Lie"

That is a very good choice as you will always need a single stage for different operations while reloading. Latter on when you are comfortable and know that reloading is your game, step up to a progressive. With reloading it seems like ther is always something else you want or need. You can go broke trying to get it all at once.
