    Cleaning dirty ammo

I have some ammo that had been sitting around a while (223) and it's got some dirt built up - possibly from some lube that was never properly cleaned. In any case, I want to clean it up.
    Any recommendations?

I have heard of using the tumbler to do it, but it just doesn't sound right to me or perhaps I am a bit too cautious (don't know if being too cautions is even possible)

Shoot it, that'll clean it up.

I've heard of people tumbling ammo, but I never had to and even if I did, probably never would.

I tumble all of my reloads in corncob/Nu-Finish for 10 minutes or so to clean any lube residue off. Never had a problem.

There is nothing wrong with tumbling loaded ammo.

Oh it's possible, and you are. Put it all in the tumbler.
