    Dillon primer tubes

How do you fill the Dillon primer tubes? How do you get those guys ride side up?
    Is there a video.
I am trying to decide between a Hornady LNL and a Dillon 650.
    Thx.

Most use a flip tray and some use the Dillon electric unit $$ and some lucky few have the Frankford Arsenal Vibra-Prime unit before they stopped selling them.

A manual flip tray is a two part tray unit. One side has concentric grooves molded into it that you pour the primers onto and gently swirl the tray. If a primer is upside down its sharp edge will catch on the grooves and it will flip over. Once all the primers are orientated the same side up, you place the other tray over the one with the primers in it and you flip the trays over. Now the primers will all be open end down which allows you to use a primer pick-up tube to pick up the primers.

A warning about getting too aggressive with a primer pick-up tube. "Finger cut off when loading primer tubes!, Dillon Xl650/manual tubes"!!

Dillon units are hit and miss. Either you get one that works great or you get one that is a constant problem. Flip trays and pick-up tubes aren't that bad to use.

I dump them on my work bench and manually flip the ones that are not the correct side up. Low tech.

                  PRimer Flip tray.

I have a clear red plastic one by Lee which doesn't seem to be available anymore. Been using it for nearly 20yrs.

Here's a similar product from RCBS, all of $6
