    Unburned

    Hey everyone
Im starting to reload for my 44 mag. 5 inch barrel. I used 20.8 gr. of IMR 4227 with 240 gr. swc/hp bullet. After i fire , it leaves unburned powder in the chamber, just a little, but still unburned. I put a verry little crimp. Can anyone tell me what im doing wrong.

    Thanks yall

Maybe nothing, some loads leave unburnt powder. You can try gradually increasing the crimp which will delay the release of the bullet for a couple microseconds and let the pressure build a little more which may result in more complete combustion.

Watch for pressure signs as you increase the crimp.

If you are not using a magnum primer then that should help.

If you are, then it is normal to a degree. 5" bbls can leave some unburnt
powder when using the slower ones. You might try Win296. I had a Desert
Eagle that would choke on left over powder and when I switched to 296 the
      problems faded.

normal. Even with factory ammo. Don't apply too much crimp chasing this nonsense, or you may wind up with some real trouble.

You might want to try 2400. Works good for me.
