Hornady lnl AP value.

I bought a Hornady lnl progressive press about 2 years ago and have used it to load maybe 4000 pistol rounds.

I just inherited a Dillon and am interested to see what my hornady is worth. It would include shell plates for 9mm, 40 and 45 as well as everything that came with it new.

Any ideas?

LnL new was $300, shell plates new about $30/ea. I'd estimate around $275 for a used setup in good condition.

Where did you get a new lnl ap for 300? Seems a little low to me.

^^ I was a little low, it was $328 delivered from Jet, and about $350 when Cabelas has them on sale.

High $300's brand new and you get 500 free bullets from Hornady. So knock off a few bucks for the lack of bullets, throw in the shellplates and someone may be interested. Fortunately those are popular calibers. The other thing you can do is sell the shellplates separately and knock the price of the press way down and you'll be able to move it fast.

Personally, I'd wait and get a good feeling of how you like the Dillon before making the move to sell the LnL AP. If it's a 650, I hope you are considering the cost and the time it takes to change calibers. If it's a 550, you'll want to compare/contrast 4 stations vs 5 and manual indexing. It seem like a used Dillon commands more than a used LnL AP.

$275 id say. I got mines new for about $380 on sell. I'd say the free bullets are wkrth $80 min so call it $300. Shell plates are $20 each or so (thinking used prices) so i would think you'd be in good standings at $300 and not cry at $275. Especially sincd you got the dillon for free.

I might keep both if you have the space. Changing calibers is a drag on all presses to me

I agree with the last two posters. Keep and use them both. If you find out that you have a distinct preference for one over the other and need some money, then sell the one that isn't as preferred. Don't let the Dillon or LnL fanboys influence you. What counts is what you prefer - the rest of us don't matter in the least - unless you want to join someone's fan club :-).

Personally, if I had the space and the two presses, I'd have each set up for a different caliber to avoid the time and effort of change-overs.

I don't really have space for both. I've got a single stage hornady I use for reloading Rifle and really only plan on doing pistol with the progressive. I'm going to set up the Dillon and see how it works. But with all the accessories I got with it I'm thinking I'll stick with it unless it is a hassle. Thanks for the input guys.
