    Upgrading from a 650 to 1050... Help

Sold my 650, and am upgrading to the 1050 in a few weeks! I currently have a 45acp,223,and 9mm conversion kits and dies. I have an upgraded aluminum roller handle, 2 tool heads, 3 powder drops, the large printing systems, a large pistol case feed plate, and 4 powder checks.

I plan on processing 223 and 300 blackout brass, loading 9,38sc,45,223,and 300 blackout.

In saying that, what else do i need to buy in order have all I need?! I think I am going to order the press in with 38 super or 38SC (not sure what makes more sense).

Anyone else have thoughts... I can afford to buy all of it at once, but I want to make a check list of "must have items" to make this as soon and simple of a transition from 650 to 1050.

    All help appreciated!!

I have never operated a 1050, but have heard it is slightly more difficult to convert calibers.

At minimum you're going to need small rifle (223), large pistol (300 BO, 45), and small pistol (9, 38sc) case feed plates.

IMO having a quick change tool head (including the powder measure) for each caliber is ideal. That would be 5 quick change tool heads.

For conversion parts you should look at the Dillon Caliber Conversion: (doesn't want to come up at the moment). This will tell you the minimal parts you need for the conversions for the calibers you want. Punch in what you have and it will tell you what you need. Very useful as many of the parts overlap on some of the conversion kits.

You have quite a number of calibers you want to run through your 1050. I've heard they are best leaving a caliper on them and running til the cows come home. Maybe someone with a 1050 can better comment in that regard.

The combination of The Gun Wiki to our system is not only in line with what we are working on, but will also serve as a means in which to build upon our ongoing projects.

The opposite of the primer system that comes with the 1050 you buy. If desired a Rapid Trim, with the cutting dies for .223 and 300.

I have 3 tool heads. I keep one for rifle (.223 and .308), one for pistol and one for the trimming. Buy those Hornady die lock rings.

I just put them on all the dies and the swage die. Having a tool head for each caliber would be nice, but IMO is not needed. After a few caliber changes, your speed will increase greatly.

Also I bought a powder check, for piece of mind.

order from brianenos -- his shipping rates are MUCH better than dillons, and he will double check your order, make recommendations, etc.
