    newbie stupid question

I purchased once fired 500 Hornady 308 ammo brass.

The head stamp on some say "Hornady 308 Win Match" and on others "Hornady 308 match"

They appear cosmetically to be the same, I have not taken calipers to measure them yet. Are they same ? or did I get a mixture ?

A quick google it looks like there is no 308 match round, so it is all 308 Win. right ?

Can you post pics? I think they are the same fundamentally but pics would answer this.

Manufacturers change headstamp syles from time to time. Hornady Match is Hornady Match. .308 is .308.

They are all 308win and good to load.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

I've had a steady supply of once fired Hornady 308 TAP brass over the past ten years.

Hornady 308 Match / TAP brass has changed over the years. I have found three distinct production lot differences. My weights were calculated with once fired cases with the expended primer in the case.

The first production lots weighed under 160 grains. The brass became heavier and lots weighed in the 163- 165 range. The newest lots weigh in at the 170 grain range. Newest lots also have a primer crimp, where earlier lots do not.

With the increase in weight came thicker case necks and less internal capacity.

You can weigh some of the different head stamp cases and see if there is a substantial weight difference between the head stamps.

I keep my different lots of brass segregated in their weight class since they differ in case neck thicknesses and require a different neck bushing size.

I've found all of the Hornady 308 brass to be very good brass.

            Cool THANK YOU everyone.

I am new to rifle rounds and I know there are variations in rounds with the same size like for example 17 hornet and 17 ackley so I was worried there another 308 round and I got 2 different brass's. A quick google didn't find any.

After posting my question, I did measure them and they came out to be the same and I also weighed them and the difference was consistent between cases stamped 308 and 308 Win, so into the Dillon they went with a universal decapper and then I will tumble them and start sizing/maybe trimming and loading.

Have some more reloading questions coming up soon
