    Cleaning Brass with Nature

Was going to tumble 45acp brass today and notice the limes on my tree are extra ripe (turning yellow) and my rain barrels full. So instead of using hot tap water and lemi shine with dial soap. Ill just use what nature gave me, 5 limes and a bit of cold dirty rain water. I was quite surprised on how well they came out after an hr. Not sure how long the shine will last but this may become the norm for my brass cleaning operations.

LOL. That's what I thought too and was going to see how it was done.

Thanks for sharing though. Will have to try this. Did you just let it sit or use in sonic cleaner?

5 squeezed limes, rain water and 1hr in a stainless steel pin tumbler.

I wonder how well that would work in a sonic cleaner.
The factory sonic cleaner additive does say it has citric acid in it.

I'm more intrested in your rain barrel setup. Did you plug the entire gutter then feed it to the barrel with the tubing?

No, its somewhat a plug. it hugs the inner walls of the down spout but there is a quarter size hole in the center for over flow. So I only divert a portion of the water into the barrel.
