I went from 2 MOA, shooting Walmart Remington 55 grain, to 1 MOA (or less) with my reloads. I figure mine are as good or better than anything I could buy from a top name ammo maker, like Black Hills, etc. For a lot less!

      Is reloading worth it?

Does a bear crap in the woods?

      Is the Pope Catholic?

      Guess your question amused me.

      Try it, You'll like it...
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

Yea b/c the the politicians who ban or tax ammo will forget about home made stuff. Just like when they banned alcohol!

You can even do better than that if you find the exact load that your rifle likes.

Its kind of like asking..is golf worth it...or is surfing worth it?

The components for a 9mm load with a copper plated bullet is $0.10 (copper plated to keep lead levels down in the range air and in your barrel.

Primer = 0.02 cents or less
powder = 0.02 cents or less
Case = Free is mos cases
              Bullet = 0.06 cents

However, I can only load 240 rounds of 9mm an hour on my dillon 550b, thats counting loading primers and checking the powder throw once an hour...and being extra careful, checking for powder in each case and making sure the primer is in the primer feeder on each stroke.

So lets say you make a $100.00 an hour on average...thats another 0.42 cents per round, so you can't really justify reloading economically, but you can't justify vacation economically either

I like to reload because its fun, its entertaining, and its certainly a great way to learn much more more about how a gun and cartridge work together...just in case one day you NEED to reload...you will be ready.

I'm going to use that line someday in future reloading threads.

Nobody counts the value of their time in the equation; that would make reloading a losing proposition for just about everybody.

That is why Handloaders always use Rule #449894: FREE time ONLY!

If you have one hour day to watch TV, then you have at least one hour a day to reload. Seven hours a week, 28 hours a month, 364 hours a year will generate quite a bit of ammo over time.
I actually find reloading to be a big stress reliever as well. I get into a Zen mode, especially with 30-06...

In either a Hornady or Sierra loading manual, my personal favorites.

Don't do the internet recipes until you have a few loadings under your belt.
A manual will give loads specific to the bullet, not all bullets are created
equal. Even when they weigh exactly the same.
