Lead Free Ammo in an M1A

    Hey, y'all.

I'm going to be selling my M1903A4C by Rock Ridge Machine Works, to fund a replacement build and I was wondering if M1A's have problems with lead free ammo. I'm going to primarily be using lead free ammo (Barnes bullets in handloads) because I plan on hunting at Ft. Hunter Liggett.

Is the barrel length/twist rate fast enough??? Can the action handle hotter loads that are intended to push the longer bullet, without making any gunsmith level adjustments???

I know M1A's can take a beating, which is one of the reasons why I'm looking at getting one, but will the rifle function stay accurate with lead free ammo???

    Thanks for the help.

With a copper solid it wont make a bit of difference as long as bullet weight falls in the range of what was used(147gr-175) by the military and powder charges are adjusted for the longer bullet.Barrel twist should be between 1/10 -1/12

I prefer 165 grain Barnes TTSX bullets as lead free bullet, and my 1-10" twist M-1A is fine with ti.
