    Dillon Case Trimmer & 1050

    So...
If I decap a mess of. 223 brass and run them through the tumbler.
Can I then mount a Dillon case trimmer in the sizing die hole on the 1050 toolhead and then run the brass through the full reloading cycle? Or is the trimmer too big or too something else to allow this?

Not sure about the 1050, but I run one on my 650. The main issue is the lack of an expanding button in the Dillon trim die. This might cause some difficulties in bullet seating. I have heard others say its fine to seat bullets after sizing with the dillon trim die, but I had poor results.

I run a trimmer on a separate tool head.

Trimming on the loading tool head will leave a lot of left over shaving in the brass the vacuum couldn't suck out.

Neck expansion shouldn't be an issue since it's done on the back up rod.

Eta: You will not be able to use the vacuum manifold with the back up rod as it takes up a lot of real estate.

          No.
You will have lube on the cases and brass shavings everywhere that you want to get rid of before you load the cases.
You also need to neck expand the cases after they go through the dillon trimmer.

Read my stickied thread on "processing brass in bulk" for how I recommend setting up the press.

I say you should run it twice. On mine I prep on the 1st go and load on a 550.

            My setup is as follows.

            Tumble in walnut.

Station 1 - Lee Universal Decapping Die
            Station 2 - Swage
            Station 6 - Dillon Trimmer
Station 8 - Lee Collet Neck Die to expand the neck

Then I SS tumble and then load.
